Local Action Group “Pajurio krastas” (Seaside land) unites active and industrious people of Klaipeda district. Our land is united by the Baltic Sea, Curonian Lagoon and the Minija River. Sandy seaside and water activities in Curonian Lagoon attract more and more visitors from all over the Europe. The area of LAG territory is 1 334,3 square meters, and 35,568 people live there. Klaipėda district is characterized by well developed infrastructure and future development‘s perspectives.
Mission of LAG “Pajurio krastas” is to ensure sustainable development of the rural areas of Klaipeda district, and first of all to improve living environment, to diversify rural economics and to promote social and cultural initiatives through joint actions of rural people, communities and NGOs, and active partnership with local government and businesses.
Our LAG “Pajurio krastas” had started its activities in January 2008, and since the very first day of our activities we started applying new approach towards rural development: the strategic decisions are based on experiences of local people and on partnership. While the activities aim for long-term results.
LAG “Pajurio krastas” unites 34 members, and the management board consists of 16 representatives. There are 5 comitees and 2 comissions, thus every member can get involved in any fied of activities he or she wants to.
The strategy for the development of rural areas of Klaipeda district aims to improve quality of life in rural areas of Klaipeda district, to diversify rural economics, promote local initiatives and partnership. Thus we aim to raise level of social and economic welfare of rural people, to improve living environment in rural areas.
Priority areas of the strategy:
1. Promotion of social and cultural initiatives of rural people, diversification of rural economics.
2. Improvement of living environment in rural areas.
44 communities and NGOs of Klaipeda district are eager to implement strategy for the development of rural areas of Klaipeda district, while the process is leaded by six persons from LAG administration, that are open to changes, innovations and new developments: project leader, administrator, communities‘ consultant, financial manager, communication and public relations specialists.
